Saturday’s Scoop6 will have four legs from Doncaster on St Leger Day with the remaining two legs coming from Chester.
Leg one at 2:05pm will be Chester’s Watergate Cup. This Class 2 handicap is over two miles which is just under two circuits of the sharp turning course within the city’s Roman Walls.
The Betfred Portland, a 5½f handicap at Doncaster, will be leg two at 2:20pm. There are 21 runners currently remaining out of the maximum 22 allowed, this is the largest field size of the six races this week.
The Group 2 Park Stakes over 7f furlongs will follow as leg three at 2:55pm. William Haggas last won this race back in 1991 with Bog Trotter ridden by Lester Piggott but he saddles the race favourite this year in More Thunder.
The St Leger is the last classic to be run in Britain during the flat season at will be at leg four, scheduled for 3:35pm. Aidan O’Brien has won this race nine times and amongst his four entrants is Derby winner Christmas Day, who will be ridden by Ronan Whelan with Ryan Moore at the Irish Champions meeting.
Leg five will be back at Chester with the Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Handicap. Top weight of 9st 10lbs will be carried by last year’s winner Spioradalta for Mark Walford who is carrying a stone more than twelve months ago.
The final leg will the Pertemps Network Handicap at Doncaster which is due to start at 4:15pm. This Class 2 race over 1m is worth £70k, with over £36k going to the winner.

The Scoop6 takes place every Saturday and occasionally through the week during big meetings such as the Cheltenham Festival, Kempton’s Christmas Festival, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.
The six races, known as legs, can be at one single meeting or across a number of meetings. Originally these races would have all been televised by a domestic broadcaster, such as ITV racing. Now they can be a mix of televised and non-televised afternoon races depending on field size, favouring races with more runners.
The Scoop6 itself is made up of a win fund for picking six winners and a place fund for those selecting six placed horses. If the prize fund isn’t won, it rolls over to the next available Scoop6.
