Warwick’s small but popular National Hunt course lies in the heart of Warwick town centre, only a few hundred metres from the walls of the famous castle.
Previously a dual-purpose course, the track has stuck solely to the jumping game since 2015 and lays on around 18 fixtures over the course of its season, which runs from September through to May.
The track’s classiest contests all take place early in the calendar year, with the Leamington Novices’ Hurdle and Classic Chase taking place in January, followed by the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase in February.

Warwick Major Meetings
Warwick Racecourse is one of Britain’s oldest and most respected National Hunt venues, with racing taking place in the town for well over 300 years. Situated close to the historic Warwick Castle, the course has built a reputation for staging high-quality jump racing throughout the winter months.
Attracting many of the sport’s leading trainers and jockeys, Warwick has testing track, excellent viewing and traditional atmosphere make it a favourite among racing enthusiasts. The calendar is packed with prestigious handicap chases and Grade 2 contests ensures Warwick remains one of the standout courses on the National Hunt circuit.
Although the racecourse hosts competitive meetings throughout its season, several fixtures have become particularly important within the British jumps calendar, offering major prizes and valuable clues ahead of the spring festivals.
Classic Chase Day (January)
Classic Chase Day is Warwick’s flagship fixture and one of the biggest staying chase meetings staged anywhere in Britain outside the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National. The feature race, the Classic Handicap Chase, is run over a gruelling three miles and five furlongs, demanding exceptional stamina, jumping ability and determination from every runner.
Its position in the calendar, just a few months before Aintree, means the race has developed a reputation as one of the country’s leading Grand National trials. Trainers often target the contest with horses capable of competing in the biggest staying handicaps later in the season, while previous winners have gone on to perform with distinction in many of Britain’s most prestigious long-distance chases.

Kingmaker Chase Day (February)
Just a few weeks later, Warwick again takes centre stage with Kingmaker Chase Day. The Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices’ Chase has long been recognised as one of the most informative trials for the Arkle Challenge Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival, attracting some of the country’s brightest young chasing talents.
For racing fans, it’s a valuable opportunity to assess future Festival contenders before the action moves to Prestbury Park. The supporting programme also features competitive handicaps, ensuring another afternoon of high-quality National Hunt racing.
The meeting has produced numerous future Grade 1 performers over the years and continues to be one of the highlights of the novice chasing calendar.

New Year’s Eve Raceday (December)
