This high-class mixed flat and National Hunt venue sits just outside the town of the same name in Berkshire, around 60 miles to the west of London. In common with the majority of dual-purpose tracks, the jumps action takes place in the winter, between November and April, with the flat season operating from April through to October.
There are highlights aplenty to be found under both codes, with Newbury providing the stage for no fewer than 21 Grade or Group class contests. Leading the way over obstacles are the Grade 1 Challow Novices Chase in December and the Grade 2 contests of the Games Spirt Chase and Denman Chase which fall in February, and the Long Distance Hurdle of November.
Turning to events on the level, the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes in May regularly attracts a field of the very best milers in training.
