Wetherby Racecourse Fixtures

Wetherby Racecourse sits just outside the market town from which it takes its name, around 12 miles to the north of Leeds. Widely recognised as the premier jumps racing venue in Yorkshire, the track also plays host to the occasional low-key flat meeting.

The high-quality jumps season runs from October through to May and features a healthy smattering of noteworthy events. The two-day festive fixture always proves popular with punters, whilst the big Saturday meeting in November features the Grade 2 double act of the West Yorkshire Hurdle and the Charlie Hall Chase.

The Opening Meeting (October)

The new jumps season gets underway at Wetherby with the Opening Meeting, traditionally marking the return of National Hunt racing to the racecourse after the summer break. Just weeks after the season begins, Wetherby stages its flagship two-day festival, centred around the prestigious Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase. One of the first major staying chases of the National Hunt season, the race regularly attracts elite performers with Gold Cup ambitions and has been won by many outstanding horses over the years.

The meeting also features the Grade 2 West Yorkshire Hurdle, quality Listed races and family entertainment, making it one of the biggest weekends in northern jump racing.
